Pasta Salad with Tuna & Peppers

TUNA or any other oily fish, such as salmon, mackerel and sardines, contains omega-3 essential fatty acids, which are vital for healthy cell function and for moving fats around the body. During a detox, they can help reduce food cravings. Aim for 3 portions of oily fish a week during your detox.

Pasta Salad with Tuna & Peppers

Serves 2
140g (5oz) fusilli pasta * pinch of salt * 1 tsp olive oil * 170g (6oz) can of tuna in spring water * 12 black olives, pitted and chopped * 1 red pepper, deseeded and diced * 6 cherry tomatoes, halved * a handful of basil leaves only, finely chopped * 2 tbsp extra light mayonnaise * 1 tsp balsamic vinegar * juice of half a lemon * freshly ground black pepper * watercress, to serve

Boil the fusilli pasta in boiling water with a pinch of salt until al dente. Drain, then put into a large bowl and stir in the olive oil. Drain the tuna and flake into the bowl with the pasta. Add the olives, peppers, tomatoes and basil. Stir everything gently. Mix in the mayonnaise, balsamic vinegar, lemon juice and black pepper. Stir, serve on a plate with some watercress.
