The Margarita is the best-known Tequila cocktail and the one that kicks off the party. I deviate from the original recipe by putting sugar on the rim, as it suits most people’s taste. But substitute back to salt if you prefer.
55ml (2 floz) Tequila * 30ml (1 floz) Cointreau * 1 lime, juiced * lime slices, for garnish * 1 tbsp caster sugar * ice
Put the caster sugar onto a plate. Wipe the edge of a martini glass with lime juice, turn it upside down and twist to coat with the sugar.
Pour the tequila, Cointreau, lime juice and a little ice into a cocktail shaker and strain into the martini glass.
