Desire & Persistence

“Some of us let dreams die, but others nourish and protect them,
nurse them through bad days till they bring them to the sunshine and light.”
Woodrow Wilson, President of the USA, 1856 – 1924

There is no greater, over-whelming emotion than pulsating DESIRE. It is there in your sacral chakra and needs to be ignited. To achieve your goals, no matter what they are, you need to know what your underlying desire is. Ask yourself: “Why do I want this?”

I want to be slimmer.
So I can fit into my size 14 jeans.
So I feel sexy and younger.
So that I appeal to my husband.
So that we remain intimate.

I want to be promoted to Director.
So I can earn more money.
So I have more disposable income.
So we can have exotic holidays.
So I can experience more cultures.

Do you see? When it comes down to it, desire is pure, sacral chakra, selfish, animal pleasure and don’t be guilty for it. Use it as your driving power. Go back to your personal written statement and add in your underlying, burning desire.

Now your written statement is being mixed with emotion and this is extremely powerful, as your subconscious mind only understands emotion. The next step is to add FAITH to the recipe. This is the unyielding thought that you will receive what you ask for and the cast-iron belief in yourself and your abilities. This is not the same as wishing, but knowing it will happen. Take time to feel the difference between these two words in your gut.

The intention here is to have your goals and desires so internalised within you, that no matter what anyone says, no matter if your conscious brain brings in ‘nagging doubt’ or if one of the five fears start to creep up, you are completely sure of yourself. Napoleon Hill, in his book ‘Think and Grow Rich’ suggests: “..all thoughts which have been emotionalised (given feeling) and mixed with faith, begin immediately to translate themselves into their physical equivalent or counterpart.” This means, what you think, or fear, mixed with emotion and FAITH, will eventually happen. You choose.

You now need to do some VISUALISATION, as this is going to convince your subconscious mind that you already have in your possession what you want. It will direct you and put you into motion to do what it is that you need to do to achieve your goal. If you are having trouble believing in this, you may need to work on MINDFUL CLARITY.

VISUALISATION: Go to a quiet spot during the day or to your bed at night, where you will not be disturbed. Read out loud your written statement. Imagine yourself already having achieved your goal. What do you see? What are you touching? What can you smell? What do you hear? What can you taste? What do you feel like right now? Repeat daily.

Without energy, nothing is achieved. It is a power which radiates from your solar plexus, right in the middle of your body. This is where you move up your basic animal desire into civilised, social action. This is where you turn difficulty from being your enemy into becoming your friend. But I am talking about gentle, consistent energy, as this provides longevity, taking you to your goal. Your energy needs to be controlled and conserved so that it is put to clearly focused use. Noise and hurry is energy wasted…..”more haste, less speed”.

Calm, gentle ENERGY is a composition of promptness, vigilance, activity and dedication:

PROMPTNESS: Being alert, prompt and punctual as someone who can be relied upon. Doing it once and doing it on time saves and focuses energy. You may need to go back and work on Covey’s Time Management Matrix on page 17 and work on PHYSICAL BODY for organisation.

VIGILANCE: Be awake to any opportunities that come your way. Also be mindful of your own daily thoughts; are they negative or positive? And finally, be aware of and responsible for your actions towards others. Good manners are priceless and what comes around goes around.

ACTIVITY: Keep busy, without being a busy fool. The work you have been doing on plan & purpose will see to that. Industrious people are mostly the happy, light-hearted ones.

CONCENTRATION: Throw yourself whole-heartedly into what you do and concentrate only on the task in hand. Thinking about what you are going to do next or tomorrow, only doubles the energy that you have to expend on each task. Remember, things are created twice; once in the mind and then in reality. So don’t do twice the work! Work on MINDFUL CLARITY.

PERSISTENCE is an essential factor in translating your desire into reality; also known as will-power. If you have desire pulsating in your sacral chakra and persistence in your solar plexus, you are on an invincible course of action. Successful people carry on despite all opposition, until they reach their goal. The more intense the desire, the greater the persistence. Start slowly, then you will eventually pick up speed. This is the virtuous circle of persistence.

Recipe: Take a definite purpose and an organised plan, mix it with desire and will-power, sprinkle in self-reliance and self-belief, heat with co-operation and trusted alliance with people. Repeat.
