Raspberries are rich in antioxidants and flavonoids which help neutralise toxic free radicals. they are high in ellagic acid, a known chemopreventive to help prevent cancer and have been shown to have anti-inflammatory properties. This is particularly good if you are recovering from an illness, as the flavonoids ‘clean’ up all the dead, unwanted cells, bacteria and viruses. Since my husband recovered from his cancer treatment back in 2005, I have given him all kind of berries almost every day either in a smoothie or as a dessert.
255g (9oz) blueberries * 115g (4oz) raspberries or other summer fruits * 125ml (4 floz) plain bio-yogurt * 1 tsp honey
Whizz all the ingredients together in a blender. Add crushed ice, if the weather is wonderfully hot!
