We were at a loose end one New Year’s Eve. Hugh and Adie, friends of friends, invited us to their home. Laden with panettone, Chardonnay, After Eight Mints and two children with sleeping bags, we were greeted with open arms and great hospitality. No-one throws a party like Adie does; our real Christmas angel.
ADIE’S GIN FIZZ
30ml (1 floz) gin * 1 tsp elderflower cordial * 220ml (7 floz) Champagne * orange, for serving
Add the elderflower cordial and gin to a glass, then top with Champagne. Add orange for decoration.
CLEAR HEAD FIZZ
250ml (8 floz) lime cordial, chilled * 750ml (24 floz) ginger beer, chilled * 30ml (1 floz) fresh lime juice * fresh mint sprig * slice of cucumber
Pour all the ingredients into a large pitcher and mix. Serve in a champagne glass and garnish with fresh mint and a slice of cucumber on a cocktail stick.
